Xiyang Township's Bohai Fishing Village is the largest fishing village in Liaoning Province. The village has six villager groups, 676 households, and 2,272 residents, with 80% of the villagers engaged in fishing. The annual aquatic product output of Bohai Village amounts to 20,000 tons, with a production value of 2 million yuan. Major seafood products include jellyfish, mysid shrimp, mantis shrimp, crabs, and more. Dried shrimp and dried jellyfish are two of the village’s specialties. Fishermen primarily engage in fishing, along with nearshore aquaculture, seafood processing, and long-distance transport. In recent years, the living, working, and residential standards of the fishermen have improved significantly, making Bohai Village one of the first well-off villages in Wafangdian City.

In Bohai Fishing Village, large chimneys standing atop rooftops are a common sight. Locally known as "shacks," these are workshops specifically used for processing fish and shrimp. Most of these workshops are built around drying areas for fish, totaling over 600. The village has more than 500 fishing boats with a combined power of 13,400 kilowatts, and the largest boat has 300 horsepower. The total horsepower of Bohai Village’s fishing fleet accounts for three-fifths of all boats in Wafangdian City.

Every year on the 13th day of the sixth lunar month, Bohai Village celebrates its “Sea Worship Day.” On this day, every household slaughters pigs and sheep, sets up offerings by the sea, throws steamed buns into the water, sets off firecrackers, and bows toward the sea to worship the Goddess of the Sea. At the end of the summer fishing moratorium each year, the village’s more than 500 fishing boats set out to sea together, with family members seeing them off amid the sound of firecrackers—a lively and spectacular celebration that attracts many tourists.
