Tazitun Dolmen

Tazitun Dolmen is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaoning Province.

Tazitun Dolmen, located in Tazicun Village, Songshu Town, Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province, is a relic from the late Neolithic to the Bronze Age and also the oldest above-ground cultural site. Archaeologists refer to it as "megalithic culture" or "dolmen culture." On September 21, 1979, Tazitun Dolmen was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Lüda City.

The dolmen consists of six stone slabs, most of which were processed using relatively advanced tools. The base is paved with one large stone slab, the sides are formed by four large stone slabs acting as walls, and the top is covered by another large stone slab that extends beyond the side slabs, forming a rectangular tomb chest. Originally, a significant amount of sand and soil covered the dolmen, but over time, erosion by wind and water has completely eroded these coverings, leaving only the massive stones. The dolmen tomb reflects the concentration of tribal power at the time, as they were already capable of mobilizing large labor forces to construct tombs for their elites. This period marks the gradual disintegration of primitive society and the early emergence of class-based society. In the context of ancient times with very underdeveloped productive forces, constructing such a tomb was no easy feat, indicating the rise of tribal nobility and the imminent threshold of statehood.

Protected area: within 20 meters outside the projection of the dolmen’s capstone.

Construction control zone: the first-class control zone extends 50 meters outside the protected area, and the second-class control zone extends 80 meters outside the first-class control zone.
