Longshan Scenic Area

Longshan Scenic Area is located in the city center of Tieling and is a provincial-level scenic area in Liaoning Province. The scenic area consists of four major zones: Longshou Mountain, Maofeng Mountain, Chaihe Reservoir, and Qinghe Reservoir. Among them, the widely renowned Longshou Mountain Scenic Area looks west toward the urban landscape and east toward the Chaihe River, stretching ten li in a winding, undulating path that runs north to south through Yinzhou, presenting a breathtaking natural scene resembling a dragon about to take flight. Here, in spring, the mountains are covered with blooming cherry, peach, apricot, and pear blossoms, all competing to bloom, filling the air with a richly fragrant and intoxicating aroma; in the height of summer, the grass is lush and green, and birds sing everywhere; in golden autumn, the pines and cypresses stand strong and verdant, while red leaves cover the mountains; in the deep winter, the land is draped in thick snow, a brilliant expanse of silver. The beautiful natural scenery of the four seasons complements the pavilions, terraces, towers, and gazebos on the mountain, filling the entire scenic area with poetic and picturesque charm. The famous Ciqing Temple is located at the summit of the northern part of Longshou Mountain. It is said to have been originally built during the Tang Dynasty, originally named Xiufeng Temple and Shuichao Temple, and was renamed Ciqing Temple in the early Qing Dynasty. The Zuigong Tower was a place in ancient times where local officials and gentry would drink and admire the scenery. In the 1930s, the abbot of Ciqing Temple brought back a full set of the Buddhist scriptures from Japan and stored them in this tower, which is why it is also called the Scripture Pavilion.
