Ulan Mutu Mountain, whose name translates from Mongolian to "Mountain of Red Wood," is located in Bajiazi Township, Fumeng County. Stretching 10 kilometers in length with a total area of 30.8 square kilometers, it stands at an elevation of 831.4 meters, making it the highest peak in Fuxin. The mountain features bizarre shapes, with grotesque rocks scattered everywhere—each peak and stone unique in form and posture, creating a distinctive landscape. The General’s Peak stands tall and proud, the Stone Chair is a marvel of nature, the Hanging Temple is steep and precipitous, the Three Gates are exquisitely crafted, the Climbing Turtle seems ready to move, the Skyward Frog is vividly lifelike, Pear Mountain Reading Painting is serene and beautiful, and the Filial Daughter’s Ascent to the Mountain has been celebrated through the ages. The Eight Great Depressions each offer distinct views, forming independent scenic spots. The area boasts a rich diversity of flora and fauna, with stunning scenery. Every golden October, the mountains and valleys turn red, and the fragrance of fruit wafts through the nearby villages. The legendary and healing Maifan Stone mineral water gurgles down the mountain, its rhythmic dripping not only nourishing the local plants and trees but also contributing to the health and longevity of the residents below, earning the area a reputation as a nearby “longevity village.”

A national A-level tourist scenic area. Located in Bajiazi Township, Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County, Liaoning Province. It is 35 kilometers from downtown Fuxin and 200 kilometers from the provincial capital, Shenyang. It is a tourist destination integrating biological scientific research, sightseeing, and leisure entertainment.

Established in 2000, it was originally named Alimatou Mountain, which means “Pear Mountain” in Mongolian, before being renamed Ulan Mutu Mountain, meaning “Mountain of Red Trees” in Mongolian. Covering a total area of 30.8 square kilometers, it is part of the Nulu’erhu Mountain Range. The main peak has an elevation of 831.4 meters, making it the highest peak in the Fuxin region.

Ulan Mutu Mountain lies within a region where three types of vegetation—North China, Changbai Mountain, and Inner Mongolia—coexist, resulting in rich plant life. Within the planned scenic area, forest coverage reaches 80%. On both sides of the mountain and in the central sections, there are large areas of natural secondary deciduous forests, with tree species including linden, Manchurian ash, oak, and mountain apricot, as well as valuable medicinal plants such as dense-flowered lilac. The eastern side features large areas of planted Pinus tabuliformis forests. According to statistics, the mountain is home to 110 families and 450 species of rare flowers and trees, including over 200 types of medicinal plants, and more than 40 species of wild animals. Major attractions include Ladder Temple, Liao Tombs Cluster, and Heavenly Drum Path.

Standing atop the main peak, one can take in the entire panoramic view of Fuxin. Looking south, the urban areas of Fuxin, Fumeng County, Xinqiu District, and Qinghemen District are all clearly visible. Gazing northeast, the white sand dunes of the Horqin Sandy Land in Inner Mongolia resemble snow. Surrounding the vista, the harmonious blend of mountains, waters, forests, fields, villages, and farmhouses presents a breathtaking natural landscape. In spring and summer, the land below is lush and green, crisscrossed with fields that look like a painting or a chessboard. In autumn, the earth is adorned in gold and jade, bringing a sense of joy and tranquility.

A closer view from the main peak reveals beautiful scenes everywhere. Eighteen mountain peaks stand prominently, with steep cliffs and deep valleys. Each peak is uniquely shaped—some resemble towering city walls, others like skyscrapers, some steep like Huashan Mountain transplanted here, and others majestic like Mount Tai moved to this spot. Old Man Mountain, Long Snake Mountain, and Tiger Head Mountain take on human or animal-like forms, all masterfully shaped by nature, leaving visitors in awe.

At dawn, one can admire the sea of clouds, with people above the clouds and the mountain enveloped in mist—like a fairyland on earth. Pear Mountain’s scenery changes with the seasons and varies in color in every direction. Truly: spring has its blossoms, autumn its moon; summer offers cool breezes, winter its snow. To the east are green hills, to the west rolling mounds; to the south lie towns, to the north stretch sandy plains. Travelers escaping the hustle and bustle of the city find rare serenity in this tranquil mountain retreat.

Bajiazi Town: Bajiazi Township is located in the northwest of Fumeng County. It borders Hadahushao Township and Jiumiao Town to the east, Fuxingdi Town to the north, Dawujiazi Town and Taiping Township to the west. Fuxin’s highest peak, Ulan Mutu Mountain (elevation 831.4 meters), is situated within the township. The area is characterized by low mountains and hills, with higher terrain in the west and lower in the east, and distinct seasons throughout the year.
