Ancient Yulong Village

Ancient Yulong Village — China’s First Village, is located 2.5 kilometers southwest of Chaihai Village in Shala Town, Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County, and 25 kilometers from Fuxin City. It is an ancient historical and cultural site left by early humans who lived and thrived here 8,000 years ago. In 1996, it was designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the State Council.

This cultural site covers an area of approximately 30,000 square meters. Within an 8,000-square-meter section, 55 primitive house foundations have been excavated. These house sites are densely and orderly arranged in rows, all facing the same direction, and are semi-subterranean with square, round-cornered shapes directly carved into granite gneiss. Based on their functions, they are divided into three types of apex-structured building ruins: large, medium, and small. This marks the transition of humans from nomadic life to settled living and the formation of villages, hence earning the title “China’s First Village.”

The cultural relics unearthed here mainly include stone shovels, stone hoes, stone knives, stone axes, stone pounding tools, as well as stone grinding rods, stone grinding plates, and pottery. Among the jade artifacts, the dragon-patterned pottery shards and the stone pile-formed dragon are hailed as the “World’s First Jade” and the “First Dragon of China,” respectively. As a result, Fuxin is known as the “Hometown of the Jade Dragon.”

In 1992, the Fuxin Municipal Government built the Chaihai Museum here, which is open to visitors. The museum has a frame structure, with a construction area of 877 square meters and a height of 11 meters. It is composed of six semi-subterranean human dwellings. The wall decorations resemble tree trunks and branches in color. Inside, there are four exhibition halls displaying stone tools, pottery, and more. The most eye-catching feature is a 9-meter-high, 60-meter-long panoramic painting depicting the original natural landscape, showcasing the production and daily life scenes of the primitive period. When you step onto this magical land of 8,000-year-old ancient civilization in China’s First Village, you will feel the pride of the people of Fuxin and be filled with endless imagination.

Shala Town: Shala Town is located 15 kilometers southeast of the county seat of Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County. It borders Xin Qiu District and Xi He District in the urban suburbs to the west, Guan Shan Breeding Farm and Da Ba Town to the east, and Zhao Shu Gou and Zha Lan Ying Zi to the north. The town covers a total land area of 224,000 mu, including 63,000 mu of arable land.
