Fuxin Guanshan Scenic Area

Fuxin Guanshan Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Guanshan is also known as Wengshan, and in Mongolian it is called “Wengyin Aola.” “Weng” means sacred in Mongolian, so Wengshan refers to a consecrated sacred mountain. Historically, the Khitan people revered it as a divine mountain and called it Heishan; the Mongolians of Mongolia Zhen regarded it as a holy mountain and named it Wenggongshan; during the Republic of China era, the Fengtian warlords claimed it as an officials’ mountain and renamed it Guanshan; after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it was officially named Guanshan.

Guanshan is located 35 kilometers east of Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County, at the junction of three townships—Daba, Shala, and ZhaoShugou. It has an elevation of 439.4 meters and covers a total area of 80 square kilometers. Situated at the northernmost end of the Yiwulvshan Mountain—one of the three famous mountains in Northeast China—Guanshan boasts a forest coverage rate of 80% and is renowned for its beautiful mountain landscapes shrouded in purple mist and emerald hues, as well as its pristine natural forests. The area is rich in historical and cultural heritage, featuring historical sites such as the Genghis Khan Shrine from the Yuan Dynasty, the General Platform, Cherry Temple, Archway Temple, and Obo Grand Temple from the Tang Dynasty, and the Xiao Clan Tomb Complex from the Liao Dynasty. Guanshan Breeding Farm is also a national key breeding farm and serves as a nature reserve in Liaoning Province. It is a national AA-level scenic area that integrates sightseeing, leisure, dining, entertainment, and science education.
