Gaolintai Han City Site

The Gaolintai Han City Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Liaoning Province.

The Gaolintai City Site is located in Gaolintai Village, Xikoumo Village, Fuxin Town, Fuxin City. It is rectangular in shape, built with rammed earth, and the city walls are oriented at 190°. According to the *Fuxin County Annals*, the eastern side of the city was washed away by a river, losing about one quarter of its length. Local residents report that during the early years after liberation, both the northern and western walls were still intact but were later destroyed during infrastructure development. On the southern side of the city, there is a flat area as wide as the city itself, constructed with floral soil and gravelly rammed earth, 0.5 meters thick, suspected to have been a military training ground, which was later destroyed by deep plowing. Currently, only about 30 meters of the southern wall remain, collapsed to a height of 2–3 meters and a width of 8–15 meters. The other three walls no longer exist. The site and its surrounding area are now used for farmland, where artifacts such as gray and reddish-brown pottery roof tiles with rope patterns, cylindrical tiles, pottery rims, large textured tiles, half eaves tiles, beanpot handles, and horse skull bones—remnants of daily life and construction—have been found.

The Gaolintai City Site is an ancient city from the Han Dynasty, with a history of over two thousand years. It is one of the important military fortresses built to defend against the northern Xiongnu. Preserving this site is of great significance for the study of Han Dynasty history, military affairs, and architecture.

Protected Area: Within the city and within 20 meters outside the outer base of the city walls.

Construction Control Zone: A Class I Construction Control Zone extends 30 meters east and west, 40 meters south, and 20 meters north beyond the protected area; a Class II Construction Control Zone extends 50 meters beyond the Class I zone.
