Hailongchuan Mountain City

Hailongchuan Mountain City is a cultural heritage site protected by Yingkou City.

Hailongchuan Mountain City is located on Hailongchuan Mountain in Fengjiabao Village, Zhoujia Town, Dashiqiao City. It was an important mountain fortress during the Goguryeo period. The area is surrounded by mountains, and within the city there are also two mountain ridges: Dongdabei to the east and Miaohoushan to the west. A stream formed by mountain springs flows westward out of the fortress. Today, there are temple structures within the mountain city, and just outside the west gate lies the residential area of Dongjin Village.

The overall layout of the mountain fortress is roughly circular, with a perimeter of about 6,200 meters and covering an area of 785,000 square meters. The terrain is generally higher in the east and lower in the west. Stone walls were built along the mountain ridges, with remaining widths of about 1 to 1.5 meters. The lengths and heights vary, standing approximately 0.1 meters above the surrounding mountain surface. Some sections of the wall are still clearly visible. From the north gate to the east gate, most of the natural mountain cliffs were used as the defensive wall, so no stone walls were built. From the west gate to the north gate, walls follow the mountain contours. Southward from the east gate past the south gate, walls can also be seen following the mountain terrain. On the flat terrace west of Miaohoushan inside the mountain city, there is a spring, which is believed to have been the main water source for the fortress at that time. Outside the south gate, there is a man-made earthen mound. Based on the mountain terrain and the remaining walls, it is concluded that the fortress had four gates—east, west, south, and north—as well as a water gate.

In 2012, the Yingkou Municipal People's Government (Ying Zheng [2012] No. 173) designated Hailongchuan Mountain City as a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit. The cultural heritage protection area and construction control zone announced by the Yingkou Municipal People's Government (Ying Zheng [2013] No. 185) are as follows: the area within the fortress walls and within 50 meters outside the outer base of the walls is the protected area; an additional 200 meters beyond the protected area is designated as a Class V construction control zone.
