At the end of each year, numerous annual "Best Employers" survey reports are released. Respondents pay close attention to companies’ awareness in building their employer brand, providing more targeted reference data for businesses.
On February 24, the China Best Employers (2011) Annual Awards Ceremony was held in Beijing. In addition to unveiling the Top 30 China Best Employers (2011) list and various special awards, the event also released authoritative internal and external research reports on best employers.
Data from this research shows that among the factors workplace professionals consider when evaluating the best employers, organizational management is particularly important, followed by compensation and benefits, employer image, training and development, work environment, and brand strategy. However, even within these top-performing companies, employees’ ratings on internal employer brand perception indicators — including key aspects such as “sound employee communication mechanisms,” “employee involvement,” and “fulfilling commitments to employees” — were not high, especially regarding communication and participation. The research report also pointed out that as the post-80s and post-90s generations have fully entered the workforce, their demands for equal communication, mutual respect, and participation in management continue to rise.
To recognize outstanding companies for their exceptional performance in human resources, Best East — China’s leading recruitment brand in the hotel and catering industry — will hold the Best East Human Resources Summit Forum and the Hotel & Catering Industry’s Most Attractive Employers Awards Ceremony on March 9 at the Sheraton Xixi Resort in Hangzhou. This event aims to create a high-level platform for development and collaboration in the human resources sector of the hotel and catering industry.
It is reported that to enhance industry competitiveness and promote mutual respect between the industry and talent, Best East pioneered the “Employer Index” evaluation system in the industry in 2008, and in July 2010 officially launched the largest and most professional employer selection event in China’s hotel and catering industry: the First Best East Most Attractive Employers in Hotel & Catering Industry Awards.
Since the launch of the event, over 8,000 hotel and catering businesses have participated in the selection, with nearly 200,000 industry professionals casting their votes. As of June 30, 2011, the selection process had determined the “Top 300 Most Attractive Employers in the Hotel Industry for 2010-2011” and the “Top 100 Most Attractive Employers in the Catering Industry for 2010-2011.”
According to United Nations estimates, China’s labor force will begin to decline in 2017 (with the overall population starting to decline in 2032). The emergence of the “Lewis Turning Point” has led the labor market into a dilemma of “difficulty in recruitment” and “difficulty in employment.” Meanwhile, as modernization accelerates, various conflicts are expected to intensify. For China’s hotel industry, building and promoting the employer brand is even more urgent under such circumstances, and the First Best East Most Attractive Employers in Hotel & Catering Industry Awards has undoubtedly played a positive role in advancing this process.
