The “Banff Mountain Film Festival 2011 Highlights Tour and 2012 Spring/Summer Tour” is coming to town in a big way. Outdoor sports enthusiasts will get to stay in sync with the global outdoor scene and experience top-tier outdoor films.
After three years of development in 2009, 2010, and 2011, the Banff Mountain Film Festival China Tour has successfully toured four cities—Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Shenzhen. With growing demand, more outdoor lovers are hoping to bring this exciting event to their own cities.
Therefore, during the spring and summer of 2012, the China Tour organizers have expanded the list of tour cities once again, bringing eight of the most outstanding films from 2011 to Xi’an, Shenyang, Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Wuhan, as part of the “Banff Mountain Film Festival 2011 Highlights Tour and 2012 Spring/Summer Tour.” This marks a significant move for the festival.
With the new five-city Highlights Tour plus the Banff Tours in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Shenzhen, the nine-city non-stop screening circuit will reach a much wider national audience.
In the spring and summer tour, the carefully selected highlights curated by Banff are the most talked-about films. Mountain climbing films such as “The Swiss Machine” and cycling films like “The Wheel of Life” were immensely popular among outdoor fans during last year’s tour.
Since its founding in 1975 at Banff National Park in Canada, the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival has grown over thirty years and is now held in more than 30 countries and regions around the world. Co-founded by outdoor enthusiasts and mountaineers, this outdoor sports and documentary film festival has become a global annual gathering for outdoor aficionados. Meeting up at Banff and experiencing the year’s best outdoor films has become a lifestyle for many. That’s why this festival is fondly referred to by outdoor enthusiasts as the “Oscars of the Outdoor World.”
In 2009, the Banff Mountain Film Festival was introduced to China by Yingtao Sihua Culture Communication and began touring across the country. This marked the first time Chinese outdoor enthusiasts experienced this unparalleled outdoor sports film festival. As the festival continued to grow and expand to more cities, it quickly won the hearts of outdoor lovers in China. Bringing Banff to their own cities became a shared aspiration.
Therefore, after continuous efforts, the 2011 Highlights Tour and the 2012 Banff Spring/Summer Tour have officially launched. Organizer Yingtao Sihua hopes this tour will satisfy even more Banff film fans while also introducing more outdoor enthusiasts to Banff, helping them understand and fall in love with Banff.
