The “Star Tour” is a promotional campaign launched by Gray Line Sightseeing Buses in New York City. Each red double-decker Gray Line bus touring on the “Star Tour” route is a moving exhibition hall that not only displays the city’s human geography but also highlights New York’s “model residents.”
A “model New Yorker” is surely a public figure who works tirelessly and uses real actions to show the world that “New York is the greatest city in America.” Each “model New Yorker” has their own image sticker on the Gray Line double-decker buses, becoming a shining part of the “Star Tour” and joining thousands of Gray Line visitors in experiencing the vibrancy and beauty of the “Big Apple.”
Since May 2010, Gray Line New York has invited 10 “model New Yorkers” to participate in its promotional campaigns. They are: American TV cooking queen and author Rachael Ray, real estate mogul Donald Trump, Oscar-winning Best Supporting Actress Whoopi Goldberg, hockey player Henrik Lundqvist, Yankees legend Reggie Jackson, Oscar-winning actor Richard Dreyfuss, Grammy-winning Best New Artist Cyndi Lauper, Oscar-winning Best Actress Liza Minnelli, 41st Grammy-winning Best Tropical Latin Artist Marc Anthony, and legendary designer Kenneth Cole.
Each of these public figures appeared at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Gray Line red double-decker buses. Gray Line presents each “model New Yorker” with a certificate for lifetime free rides and places a unique sticker featuring their image on one of the iconic red double-decker buses operating in Downtown NYC, around Manhattan, or in Brooklyn.
