Recently, American company Black Diamond has been accelerating its pace, with significant moves all pointing toward a bright future.
Earlier this year, BD’s acquisition of POC came to light and has since been further completed. POC, founded in Sweden, develops and produces helmets, protective gear, goggles, gloves, skiwear, cycling apparel, and other protective equipment for extreme sports. Its products are currently sold in 27 countries and regions. POC’s founder and CEO Stefan stated: “Joining the Black Diamond team marks an important step in the brand’s global expansion. Our global infrastructure reflects our commitment to product excellence, which will drive product development. We believe Black Diamond will help us better serve our customers and achieve our goals for product quality and volume, continuously developing better personal protective equipment.”
Black Diamond President and CEO Peter Metcalf believes the coming together of two fast-growing outdoor companies is undoubtedly an exciting achievement.
Additionally, in July this year, BD promoted Mark Ritchie to Chief Operating Officer—the company’s first ever COO role. The newly appointed COO Mark will work alongside Chief Financial Officer Robert Peay and CEO Peter Metcalf, forming the company’s top three executives.
