Wang Longxiang and his motorcycle at the China–North Korea border crossing
The famous explorer Wang Longxiang has set off once again on his beloved motorcycle. Following his previous journeys such as retracing the Long March in 2004, the War of Resistance Against Japan in 2005, and the Liberation Road in 2009, among other “red-themed” trips, he is now embarking on a journey to retrace the route of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, as the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement approaches. Dongfang Daily has dispatched two reporters to provide an exclusive, first-hand account of this expedition.
On October 17, Wang Longxiang departed from Shanghai, passing through Jiangsu, Shandong, and Liaoning, before arriving in Yanji City, the capital of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province. On October 29, the journey to retrace the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea officially commenced. Riding his motorcycle, Wang Longxiang crossed into North Korea via the China–North Korea border — the first time a Chinese individual has entered the country on a domestically produced motorcycle. Wang Longxiang and the Dongfang Daily reporters visited multiple cities in North Korea and were warmly received by local authorities. They have since safely returned to China and are now spending a month in the country visiting and paying tribute to veterans of the war.
In China, Wang Longxiang and the Dongfang Daily reporters will travel through provinces and municipalities including Jilin, Liaoning, Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, Henan, Anhui, and Jiangsu. Along the way, they will visit veterans who participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, documenting and recounting that unforgettable chapter of history, before finally returning to Shanghai.
