The 2012 China · Fanjing Mountain "Around Fanjing" Road Cycling Challenge, jointly organized by the Cycling and Fencing Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Guizhou Provincial Sports Bureau, successfully concluded on November 1. Lu Zhenghu, captain of the Kolumb (Golonbu) Outdoor Team, participated in this event and won third place in the men's mountain bike 50-kilometer individual event.
The race was held on the loop road of the Fanjing Mountain Nature Reserve in Tongren, Guizhou. Events included the men's professional road cycling 80KM individual and sprint king, the men's amateur mountain biking 50KM individual and sprint king, and the women's amateur mountain biking 40KM individual and sprint king. Lu Zhenghu, captain of the Kolumb (Golonbu) Outdoor Team, competed in the men's mountain bike 50-kilometer individual race. Amid fierce competition, he fought his way to third place in the event.
※ Winter Training Plan
In a pre-race interview, the Golonbu Outdoor Team stated that they had two main goals for competing: first, to use the race as training to maintain competitive form; second, to connect and exchange with more domestic cycling enthusiasts through the event. As the athletes explained, since most outdoor races wrap up by November and the cold winter weather limits training options at their base in Guizhou, coupled with continuous participation in multiple international outdoor events since August, the team needed time to recover and adjust. Therefore, Captain Lu Zhenghu included both cycling races and “triathlons” in the team’s “winter training plan,” achieving the dual goals of maintaining performance and smoothly carrying out winter training. After the race, Lu Zhenghu summarized: “After all, compared to professional events that often last several days and span hundreds of kilometers, the intensity of this cycling race wasn’t very high. So aiming for a good placement and result can be seen as a kind of ‘training exercise.’”
