From December 21 to 23, the China's Arctic Village "2012 National Winter Hiking Conference" was held in Arctic Village, Mohe County, Heilongjiang Province. More than 200 outdoor sports enthusiasts from 13 provinces and regions across the country traveled to Mohe and Arctic Village to go on snow hikes, search for the most "northern" point of China, and experience the charm of winter outdoor activities under extreme cold conditions.
People living on this planet may all have a polar dream — to explore the world’s extremes. Antarctica and the Arctic are too remote, and Mount Everest is too high. For most, how can the polar dream be realized? The many outdoor enthusiasts who participated in this event seemed to have found an answer.

In addition to various on-site activities, the "National Winter Outdoor Sports Development Forum" served as the grand finale before the conclusion of the hiking conference. Dr. Zhang Zhijian, Director of the Outdoor Sports Department at the Mountaineering Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and Secretary-General of the Chinese Mountaineering Association, delivered a speech on the current status and prospects of outdoor sports development in China. Qi Yuedong, Director of the Competition Management Center of the Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau and Secretary-General of the Heilongjiang Mountaineering Association, introduced the current state of winter sports in Heilongjiang Province.
