On March 9, 2013, the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) held its 8th General Assembly in Shanghai, attended by over 80 representatives from around the world. At the meeting, the IFSC signed a cooperation agreement with the KAILAS brand, making KAILAS an official partner and the sole designated supplier of safety equipment and climbing ropes for the IFSC.

Currently, with the rapid growth of climbing worldwide and the sport being considered as a potential Olympic event, this Shanghai General Assembly holds significant importance. It marks both the last assembly before the decision on whether climbing will be included in the 2020 Olympics and the re-election of the IFSC Executive Committee. During the meeting, Li Zhixin, President of the Chinese Mountaineering Association, was elected as IFSC Vice President—reflecting the rapid development of climbing in China, broad international engagement, and marking a crucial opportunity to enhance Asia’s voice in global climbing affairs.
Against this backdrop, the professional outdoor brand KAILAS becoming an official supplier of climbing equipment for the IFSC carries even greater meaning. The outdoor sports industry in China has seen rapid expansion, drawing increasing attention. However, due to the high risks, low profits, large investments, and slow returns associated with climbing gear, very few brands are willing to develop and produce such products. Committed to promoting grassroots mountaineering and exploration, KAILAS had already launched a range of high-quality climbing gear by the end of 2007. To date, KAILAS offers nearly 10 product lines—including protection and descender systems, carabiners and quickdraws, ice climbing gear, climbing ropes, pulleys, and rock protection equipment—with over 200 models, dozens of patents, and numerous awards in the outdoor industry.
Becoming a professional climbing brand is KAILAS’s vision and the driving force behind its continuous efforts. Guided by this philosophy, KAILAS climbing products stand out by combining professional performance with cutting-edge technology, consistently striving for greater levels of expertise. As it moves forward, KAILAS hopes to inspire more people to take up climbing, promote the sport’s wider adoption, and work together with international organizations like the IFSC, industry brands, and outdoor enthusiasts to further its growth.
