The 2013 Shanghai MIDI Music Festival will be held from May 3rd to 5th at Century Park in Pudong. Over the course of three days, three stages will feature Shanghai’s most powerful rock lineup ever, with bands from seven countries: China, the UK, the US, France, Denmark, Finland, and Switzerland.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the MIDI School, and several bands formed by MIDI graduates or teachers will be performing. The lineup includes not only veteran "Dead Hard" acts such as Painkiller, Yaksha, Battleaxe, Suffocation, Life Pie, and Arsenal, but also outstanding young bands from the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou area like Great Sorrow, Dreamer, Mr. Fireworks, Memory Fragments, SNC Mo Fei, Magic Lions, and 5 Pence, who will take the stage at the Tang and Qing stages of the Shanghai MIDI Festival. To provide greater convenience for fans, the first day of the Shanghai MIDI Festival (Friday, May 3rd) will see the Tang, Qing, and Yuan stages officially open at 5 PM. Among them, the Tang stage will feature a special performance by an internationally renowned overseas band. D-A-D (Denmark), Amoral (Finland), Emergency Gate (Germany), Hogan Band (UK), Manceau (France), and Bubble Beatz from Switzerland (Qing stage) – each of these bands rarely performs in China, so don’t miss out on Friday’s show. On the evening of May 3rd at the Qing stage, six bands from Shanghai and Nanjing – Marquee 7, Forest Wood, FIRE SCENE, Red Spread, Blue Magpie, and Tree Band – will bring fresh sounds of new rock. MIDI has always encouraged and supported more outstanding young bands to step onto the stage.
The performances at the Shanghai MIDI Festival on May 3rd will run from 5 PM to 9:30 PM, while the shows on May 4th and 5th will start at 1 PM and end at 9:30 PM. Festival tickets are priced at 100 RMB per day for presale, 120 RMB per day at the door, and a three-day pass is available for 280 RMB (limited to 3,000 sets).
