The 3rd Shanghai Coordinates · Urban Orienteering Challenge, part of the 2013 Shanghai Citizens' Sports Games, will be held in June 16, 2013 in central Shanghai as a city-level competition. Teams of five people (with at least one member of the opposite sex) — forming hundreds of competing squads — will use urban public transportation within a set time period on the day of the event to traverse various city coordinate points and complete related tasks. The winning team will be the one that completes the course with the shortest overall time.
The challenge combines fun, competition, entertainment, and teamwork. It has been widely welcomed by participants, and the number of participants is expected to exceed 3,500 in 2013.
The event will select several of Shanghai’s newest and traditional landmark spots as orienteering checkpoints, while also incorporating public welfare activities, giving the competition strong social value.
The competition will span several districts including Jing'an, Huangpu, Xuhui, Putuo, and Hongkou, making Shanghai the epicenter of this outdoor feast.
