2012~~2013The ski season was unusually long this year. Resorts like Beidahu in Jilin didn’t close until after the Qingming Festival, giving us ski enthusiasts an extended winter. But as the season came to an end, many of us felt it was still too short—wishing it could last even longer.~~~.
After the Qingming Festival, Jilin’s Beidahu received several days of heavy snow. The resort’s management team assessed the situation and made a decision that thrilled hardcore skiers: they announced the “Beidahu Powder Snow April Gratitude Party.” Weekend activities included reopening the gondola lift, the mountaintop restaurant, and the hotel’s east wing.

After some thought, I decided to post a group-finding notice on the forum. Unexpectedly, within just two days, nearly thirty skiers signed up enthusiastically. I had only hoped for three or four companions, but it turned into a sizable group. In the end, twenty-seven skiers joined the trip, enjoying the powdery snow gifted by nature and the premium service offered by Beidahu Ski Resort to its loyal fans.
The Beijing group of skiers tookT271train early Saturday morning and arrived at Jilin Railway Station, then transferred to the Beidahu Ski Resort shuttle bus to reach the slopes.
On Saturday noon, a lucky draw was held at the mountaintop log cabin. Several Beijing group members—Schindler, Little Fish, Red Mercenary, Melon Noobie (care), Xiangyun, and Additive—won prizes including hats,TT-shirts, and hotel stays with skiing.
Red Mercenary and Melon Noobie (caer) scored big with T-shirts and a “two runs, one stay” prize (two free ski days and one free night’s accommodation at Qiaoshan).
On Sunday, the ski runs were groomed, giving fans of machine-groomed pistes plenty to enjoy.
Additive and others hit the fifth off-piste run
To let die-hard skiers fully enjoy the powder, Beidahu Ski Resort made another crowd-pleasing decision: they reopened Gondola 2 on Sunday. Led by members from Groups A, B, C, as well as Xiangyun—the new南山 moguls champion—everyone headed for Gangliang.

On Saturday evening, the twenty-seven Beijing skiers gathered together, clinking glasses and sharing camaraderie.
Enjoying two days of powder snow in Beidahu, we were once again blessed by good fortune—a major streak of luck. As Mr. Lu from Nanshan commented on my bragging Weibo post: “It really proves the saying: good karma brings good snow. It’s already mid-April, and Beidahu’s snow god is still working its magic.”
I replied: “When disciples of Nanshan travel, the heavens show extra care.”
This event was a complete success. Thank you, Beidahu Ski Resort ! Thank you, fellow travelers, and thanks to all the team leaders and CFOs who volunteered during this AA self-guided trip. None of this would have been possible—or so perfect—without you !
