The diving paradise loved by global travelers

In the dullness of daily life, people are always seeking various kinds of thrills, and extreme tourism has become a good way to relieve life pressure in recent years, with diving being one of them. As summer approaches, leisure activities such as swimming, surfing, and diving will be the best choices for thrilling entertainment. For those who pursue novelty and adrenaline, where are the global diving paradises beloved by travelers? Today, let’s take a look at some of these spots.

Red Bull Cliff – A Famous Diving Spot in Italy

The Red Bull Cliff is undoubtedly a paradise for diving enthusiasts. It is located on the shores of Lake Garda in the town of Malcesine, Italy. Also known as Lake Benaco, Lake Garda is the largest and cleanest lake in Italy. Situated in northern Italy, roughly halfway between Venice and Milan, it lies at the southern foot of the Alps and was formed by glacial melt at the end of the last Ice Age. It is a popular and attractive tourist destination that developed after World War II.

On July 24, 2011, the fifth stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series was held at Lake Garda, where athletes jumped from a 27-meter-high platform into the lake. Polignano a Mare served as the best viewing platform, accommodating 40,000 spectators to witness the athletes’ performances.

As a traditional hospitality destination, Lake Garda offers a variety of facilities to meet all kinds of visitor needs and budgets. The unique countryside along the lake allows those seeking a quiet vacation to escape the hustle and bustle; the more vibrant larger towns are perfect for the more active; the beaches are ideal for families with children. Additionally, Lake Garda features theme parks, water parks, other parks and nature reserves, as well as some of Italy’s most famous nightclubs. There are sports venues of all types, surf schools, and hot springs.

Hawaii boasts many beautiful beaches filled with tropical charm yet each with its own distinctive style—from the towering waves at Sandy Beach, to the tranquil waters of Waimea Beach, to the crashing surf at Ala Moana Beach—offering visitors a full taste of Hawaii’s diverse and spectacular coastal scenery.

Waimea, on the North Shore of Oahu, is considered one of the best swimming beaches on the island during summer. Its waters are clear and pristine, and in summer, the sea is as calm as a lake. The seabed consists of soft, fine sand, so you don’t have to worry about sharp rocks hurting your feet while standing in the water.

The large rocks on the left side of the beach serve as diving platforms for locals, just like the high platforms in the movie "The Beach." Many people come here to try the thrill of diving. In winter, the most appealing aspect is the waves that can reach up to 30 feet high, creating a spectacular sight with towering surf. Winter is a sacred place for surfing pros, attracting top surfers from around the world to test their skills.

Fubo Mountain in Guilin City is located in the city center, rising abruptly as an isolated peak. It lies to the west on land and to the east beside the Li River. The area features numerous mountains, waters, caves, rocks, pavilions, and cultural relics. It is not only a popular tourist destination but also a favorite spot for swimming enthusiasts and a paradise for diving lovers.

Every morning, many people come here to swim. The water is relatively shallow, allowing you to stand in the water and take photos with Fubo Mountain in the background.

For those who enjoy diving, head to the left side of Fubo Mountain, where there is a rock called Eagle Beak Rock. You have to hold onto the rocks with both hands to climb up to the top. Even though it’s challenging, diving enthusiasts still go there to dive and test their skills. Many friends use the rock as a diving platform and jump from it. Quite a few like-minded people gather here to form diving teams, watch each other’s moves, give pointers, enjoy the fun together, and make new friends.

Aohua Waterfall is located in a valley six kilometers northwest of Aohua Village. The journey from the village to the waterfall area takes about half an hour of trekking. Due to its limited development, the waterfall retains its pristine and majestic beauty, allowing visitors to experience the grandeur of nature firsthand.

Aohua Waterfall is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with rugged cliffs, and water cascading from the sky with tremendous force, resembling a dancing white silk ribbon. Its abundant water forms a deep pool approximately 80 meters long and 60 meters wide, with clear and sweet water.

Aohua Waterfall has long been hailed as the most thrilling diving spot in Taiwan. Challenging it is not easy. In terms of size (width), Aohua is not as wide as Shifen Waterfall in New Taipei City; in terms of height, it is not as tall as the Dragon Waterfall in Fengshan, Nantou. However, the former does not allow diving and has very poor water quality, while the latter has too little water flow and even experiences dry seasons, making it unsuitable for diving. Aohua Waterfall, on the other hand, not only has sufficient water volume and powerful currents, but also offers high enough diving spots and deep enough pools. More importantly, after diving, the water flows forward directly. Overall, Aohua Waterfall truly deserves to be called the best and most thrilling diving spot in Taiwan.

  Friendly Reminder

Diving is indeed an exciting and thrilling sport for summer entertainment, but we would like to remind everyone: for divers themselves, the lack of professional training can lead to other dangers. Diving can easily cause internal injuries, and there are many safety hazards. For those with no experience at all, it’s best not to try. Also, do not dive in regular swimming pools or shallow waters. Before diving, ensure that the underwater environment is suitable and free of hazards such as sharp rocks.

If you want to experience the thrill of diving, you should learn from a professional diving training institution or master basic diving techniques before trying. Thrills and adventure are important, but personal safety comes first.
