The 300-day countdown cycling event for Nanjing's "Welcome to the Youth Olympics" was held yesterday morning in Baima Park Square. Yang Weize, member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, along with nearly 1,000 citizens, participated in the ride.
The cycling activity was divided into two routes: one where city leaders and 800 citizens rode from Baima Park Square to Taipingmen–Jiefangmen–Xuanwumen–Hepingmen (approximately 4.5 kilometers in total); the other involved a team of 200 professional cyclists who completed a competitive ride of about 8.5 kilometers along the route from Baima Park Square to Longbizi Road, Botanical Garden, Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, Plum Blossom Valley, Lingyuan Road, Lingqian Road, and Linggu Temple.
On the same day, sub-venues were set up in districts such as Qinhuai, Jianye, and Gulou in Nanjing, with approximately 10,000 citizens across the city taking part in the cycling event. During the ceremony, a representative of the Youth Olympic volunteers issued an initiative for "Powering the Youth Olympics with Green Travel."
