On November 10, 2013, the only domestic non-stop 24-hour outdoor multi-discipline race—the "Red Bull 24 Hours" Beach Challenge—successfully concluded on Dapeng Peninsula in Shenzhen. The event attracted 64 teams from across the country. In the end, the Polar Onepolar team, formed by twin brothers Li Jun and Li Jie and female athlete Dong Li, won the championship with a time of 21 hours, 53 minutes, 8.3 seconds. The Shenzhen Little Ironman Outdoor Expansion Team II and the Shenzhen Little Ironman Outdoor Expansion Team I secured second and third place with times of 23 hours, 5 minutes, 15.1 seconds and 23 hours, 15 minutes, 10 seconds, respectively.
It is understood that this competition was divided into a professional group and an open group. The professional group’s course covered a total of 120 kilometers. Within 24 hours, participants completed 12 events as teams, including orienteering, cross-country running, mountain biking, hill hiking, canoeing, rope skills, and fun challenges. Due to the impact of Typhoon Haiyan, the 20-kilometer sea kayaking section became significantly more difficult, with only three out of 20 professional teams managing to complete the course within the 24-hour limit, making it the most challenging edition of the race in its history.
In addition to the intense competition in the professional group, the open group race, aimed at general outdoor enthusiasts, started at 8:00 AM on the 10th. Ultimately, the Dentist Family Team III claimed the title in the 60-kilometer race with a time of 7 hours, 3 minutes, and 7 seconds.
