On January 12, the only freestyle snowboard park competition in China — the 2nd MOVEMENT Cup Huairou Freestyle Snowboard Park Competition — was successfully held at Huairou International Ski Resort in Beijing. Top domestic freestyle snowboarders gathered in Huairou to deliver a visual feast of freestyle skiing on snowboards!
The judging panel for this competition was formed by Zhang He, founder of Edong Skiing, veteran rider Wang Zhi (a.k.a. sYmX-FOX), and Zhang Litao, head of Huairou International Ski School and a professional ski jumper.
After intense competition in the afternoon, Zi Jian, Sherban, and Yang Zi won the championship, runner-up, and third place respectively. They received prize money of RMB 5,000, RMB 3,000, and RMB 1,000 from the MOVEMENT brand by Xueyufenghua, as well as certificates of honor for this competition awarded by Huairou International Ski Resort. The performances of the other five contestants were also outstanding: Si Fu Di (4th place) showed a 360 spin and a Backflip, Lei Di (5th place) performed 360 and 720 spins, Pudding (6th place) landed an 180 mute grab and a 270 hit on the rail box, Xiao Yuan (7th place) executed 360 and 540 spins, and Tu Zi (8th place) completed a 360 spin and a 270 up and 270 down maneuver. All these displayed the high level of skill among China’s freestyle snowboarders. They were awarded backpacks, tote bags, and other prizes sponsored by The North Face.
“Huairou International Ski Resort and we will continue to hold freestyle competitions, promote freestyle riding, and get more riders involved and in love with freestyle. Next year, we will offer even more generous prize money to encourage freestyle skiers!” said Mei Yue, deputy general manager of Xueyufenghua.
