Recently, Yima DMP (Data Management Platform) released a set of outdoor footwear and apparel sales indices, analyzing the development trends and consumer behavior characteristics of China's outdoor industry from aspects such as sales timing, categories, and brands of outdoor products.
The data shows that consumers are increasingly inclined to choose "professional gear" when purchasing outdoor equipment. Professional outdoor consumers pay close attention to the technical quality of their gear and are far less sensitive to price. At the same time, they tend to buy a more comprehensive range of outdoor products. In addition to basic functional gear such as shoes and apparel, there is also strong demand for specialized outdoor accessories like flashlights, binoculars, knives, and trekking poles. Among overall outdoor product purchases, hiking boots, trail shoes, and windproof jackets account for about 70% of the total outdoor product category.

Data shows that when buying outdoor "combat boots," consumers value "breathability" most, accounting for 42%, followed by lightweight and durability, which account for approximately 25% and 12% respectively. In the comparison of outdoor shoe sales, CAMEL骆驼 hiking shoes hold a 24% market share, ranking first and becoming the favorite brand among professional outdoor enthusiasts.

According to the data chart on the functional demand ratio of outdoor clothing, the core needs of outdoor sports enthusiasts are casual wear, insulated, and waterproof features, which together make up nearly 70%. For seasoned hikers, windproof jackets have become essential gear. Among them, Jack Wolfskin’s insulated two-piece set ranks first with a 37% sales share, while CAMEL骆驼 ranks second and third with a 24% sales share for two-piece windproof jackets and a 21% share for single-layer waterproof windproof jackets, respectively.
From the above Yima indices, it is clear that as demand for outdoor activities continues to grow, Chinese consumers now have clearer and more specific requirements regarding the professionalism and practicality of outdoor gear. The market potential for outdoor e-commerce is enormous, and how businesses can seize the opportunities presented by this rapidly rising trend is an important issue that needs to be addressed.
