Meliá Hotels International expands its portfolio in Indonesia to 7 properties and across Asia to 16

【March 24, 2014, Shanghai, China】Meliá Hotels International and PT Putra Liang Jaya have signed an agreement to manage the newly built Makassar Indigo Boutique Business Hotel. As the newest addition to the Indigo brand, this 130-room hotel is expected to open its doors in December 2015, offering guests all the signature services and facilities of the Indigo brand. Rooms equipped with cutting-edge technology will provide great convenience for 80% of the hotel’s clientele—business travelers. The property also features two restaurants, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and several meeting rooms.

Makassar is the capital of South Sulawesi Province in Indonesia, with a population of 1.5 million. It is the largest city on the island of Sulawesi and a major trade and transportation hub in eastern Indonesia. The hotel enjoys a prime location, just a 25-minute drive from Makassar International Airport and a five-minute walk from the main shopping and business districts.

The Indigo brand is modern and urban in spirit, dedicated to delivering “100% atmosphere, service, and pure pleasure.” Positioned as a boutique business hotel, Indigo selects central city locations and is popular for its professional business services, state-of-the-art communication tools, and customizable short- or long-stay packages. With its functionality and human-centric approach, the Indigo brand has become the fastest-growing brand within Meliá Hotels International.

The opening of the Makassar Indigo Boutique Business Hotel reflects Meliá Hotels International’s strong commitment to the Asia-Pacific market. Over the past two years, the group has doubled its footprint in the region. In Indonesia alone, there are currently seven hotels either in operation or under construction, representing brands including Gran Meliá, Meliá, Sol, and Indigo. By 2015, Meliá Hotels International aims to double its presence in Indonesia once again.
