The first "Youth Cup" Nanjing University Cycling Hill Climb Race, jointly organized by the Outdoor Sports Club of Nanjing Sport Institute and Nanjing Ningfei International Exhibition Company, was successfully completed on April 20 at Nanjing Zhongshan Sports Park. A total of 157 university students from 32 colleges participated in the event. In the end, Zhou Yiqing from Nanjing Institute of Engineering claimed the championship, while Wang Zehui from Nanjing Institute of Information Engineering and Yan Binbin from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications took second and third place, respectively. The women's division was equally impressive, with Yu Xinyu from Soochow University taking the top spot—her performance even surpassed that of several male participants—followed by Chen Min (Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine) in second and Wang Lu (Soochow University) in third. The top three teams were the cycling teams from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Soochow University, and Southeast University.
During the race, participants mentioned that cycling uphill while listening to the sound of mountain springs and passing through clouds like a fairyland made for an incredibly enjoyable experience. "The scale of this competition is impressive—not only did universities from Nanjing participate, but also institutions from nearby cities such as Suzhou, Shanghai, and Anhui. The difficulty of the course was very well set, making it the most challenging hill climb route in Nanjing," said Zhou Yiqing, the men’s champion. Additionally, members of the Soochow University cycling club expressed their intention to compete again next year, aiming for even better results.
Ningfei Exhibition Company, the organizer, stated at the award ceremony that they were delighted to host the event and hoped more university students passionate about cycling would join in to showcase their youthful spirit.
