Mio, a brand under MiTAC International Corp., recently released a quality management testing video for its dash cams. Continuing the brand’s tradition of high standards in GPS navigation products, Mio utilizes TAF ISO17025-certified high-end equipment to conduct stringent tests on various dash cam specifications, ensuring superior integration of hardware and software through industry-leading commitments.

An Industry-First Commitment to Protecting Consumer Rights

Mr. Yueshun Chang, General Manager of the Mio brand, stated: “The most important aspect of a dash cam is to serve as a reliable tool for recording driving footage. Faced with competition from numerous brands in the market, we focused on how to provide a product that truly ensures user safety and guarantees quality.”

Mio’s concept for building the lab stems from the following principles: establishing a professional quality management lab where every product must pass a series of rigorous tests, including light source testing, focus distance testing, extreme temperature and durability testing, as well as GPS positioning and collision sensor testing. This commitment represents Mio’s promise to consumers and is a key factor in the brand being ranked the No. 1 Ideal Consumer Brand for six consecutive years.

Light Source Testing: Mio simulates real-world driving scenarios for dash cam recording. Through professional image calibration technology, whether filming during the day or at night, the videos maintain clarity while avoiding overexposure or insufficient lighting in the foreground.

Focus Distance Testing: Compared to the industry standard focus distance of 3.5 meters, Mio has developed an automated system to simulate the focusing performance of dash cams at varying distances. Under sufficient lighting conditions, the dash cam can focus on objects at least 5–10 meters away, ensuring optimal video quality and clarity.

Extreme Temperature and Durability Testing: Consumers often have concerns about how external temperatures or continuous operation may affect product functionality. Mio conducts high and low temperature tests using constant temperature and humidity chambers to simulate outdoor conditions, along with 72-hour continuous power-on tests without interruption.

GPS and Collision Sensor Testing: Products are tested using a GPS signal generator and vibration testing machine. All products must meet defined design specification values to pass, ensuring accurate GPS location recording and automatic triggering of video capture when events occur.
