About the Pathfinder Ski Mountaineering Lecture Series
During the 2014-2015 snow season, Nanshan Ski Resort and Pathfinder jointly created the "Pathfinder Ski Mountaineering Lecture Series" to provide a platform for skiing and mountaineering enthusiasts to interact and learn, as well as systematically experiencing and learning knowledge related to ski mountaineering techniques. The series also invites industry professionals and enthusiasts to share their experiences and stories, guiding participants in their quest to find paths to the clouds.
This session's guest speaker, Wang Xiaoyuan (Uncle Qiu), is an internet industry professional with over ten years of experience in both mountaineering and skiing. He is a sponsored athlete for several well-known brands and a Level 1 Ski Instructor certified by the Austrian Salzburg Professional Ski Instructors Association (SBSSV). He has completed numerous ski mountaineering routes including Yuzhu Peak, Qizhi Peak, Banji Peak, Gangshika, the July 1st Glacier, Muztagh Ata, and Namunani. In 2011, he successfully completed a two-day traverse from base camp to summit and back on Muztagh Ata. He was the individual champion at the first China Ski Mountaineering Championship (2007), selected for the Chinese National Ski Mountaineering Team in 2007, representing China in international ski mountaineering competitions in Korea and Japan, and has won top three positions in various domestic amateur skiing competitions. He will deliver a lecture on ski mountaineering knowledge and introduce China’s high-altitude ski mountaineering peaks, sharing firsthand information and route suggestions for multiple ski-mountaineering-capable peaks in China. There will also be abundant prizes prepared by Pathfinder (TOREAD), China’s leading outdoor brand, for participants.

Uncle Qiu’s Ski Mountaineering Records
2006 – Tibet Qizhi Peak (6206m), skied from 5700m to the end of the snow line
2008 – Qinghai Gangshika Peak (5254m), summited and skied several routes including the subsidiary peak
2009 – Gansu July 1st Glacier (5150m), full Alpine Touring ascent, full descent by skiing
2009 – Xinjiang Muztagh Ata (7545m), ascended to 7250m, full Alpine Touring ascent, descended by skiing
2011 – Sichuan Banji Peak (5430m), summited, skied from 5200m to the snow line
2011 – Xinjiang Muztagh Ata (7545m), completed a two-day traverse from Taxkorgan Base Camp to summit and back to traditional Base Camp, descended by skiing
2012 – Tibet Namunani Peak (7691m), ascended to just below 6800m, skied down
2014 – Qinghai Yuzhu Peak (6178m), summited, skied down
