The PROTREK hiking watch is truly a god-tier accessory for mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts, and my go-to model is the PRW-3000-2B. It has become significantly slimmer overall, with dimensions that even women can comfortably wear—how sleek and high-end is that? As soon as I got it, I had to post photos to show off this must-have item.
The PRW-3000-2B is a new model launched last year in Casio’s PROTREK series of hiking watches. In addition to features such as solar power and radio wave reception, it has undergone significant changes in its overall appearance, becoming much slimmer. This is largely thanks to the third-generation triple sensor it is equipped with. The third-generation triple sensor can accurately measure direction, altitude, as well as barometric pressure/temperature, and comes in a smaller size. Not only does it achieve a sleek and lightweight watch design, but it also greatly improves measurement accuracy. For example, the altimeter measurement unit has been refined from 5 meters to 1 meter, the measurement interval has been shortened from 5 seconds to 1 second, and the continuous direction measurement time has been extended from 20 seconds to 60 seconds.
Alright, no official jargon, no copying from the manual—the most genuine impressions come from real use, and pictures don’t lie. (My photography skills are lacking, so I used a padlock to stabilize the watch for photos. There was really no other way, and it does mess with the aesthetics a bit—please bear with it...)
First Impressions
The classic PROTREK hiking watch design, with a digital LCD display interface, a relatively small watch face, and a resin watch band, makes it feel very light to wear. This “Blue Elf” model is lightweight and sleek in appearance—even girls with smaller frames can wear it without any sense of disharmony, making it a great gift option. The reverse LCD display is super cool, and the watch face is divided into three main display zones.
