SYDNEY, March 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tourism operators from New South Wales will visit China this week to promote and showcase the state as a premier travel destination to key tourism partners in China.
Chief Executive Officer of Destination NSW Sandra Chipchase said that over 30 tourism operators from New South Wales will travel to Wuhan and Guangzhou from March 22 to 28. Both cities are target markets for New South Wales under the China Tourism Strategy 2012-2020.
Ms. Chipchase said: “We will seize the opportunities presented by China’s growing travel demand through this visit. New South Wales tourism operators will demonstrate the exceptional experiences our state has to offer to key Chinese tourism partners, helping them gain a better understanding of our destinations and products.”
“Suppliers from New South Wales will also use this opportunity to build and strengthen relationships with Chinese product managers, as well as engage with wholesalers.”
“China is New South Wales’ most important inbound tourism market. In the year ending September, over 443,000 Chinese visitors spent 12.1 million nights and AUD 1.5 billion in New South Wales. Therefore, it is essential that we continue to work closely with China’s tourism industry to attract more visitors to our state and ensure it remains one of the most popular travel destinations.”
Destination NSW has invited relevant operators to extend their stay in China to participate in roadshow events, which are part of a promotional campaign jointly organized by the tourism authority and Guangdong China Travel Service International.
Ms. Chipchase said: “Operators participating in the China trip have been invited to join the Guilin leg of the roadshow, which covers six major cities in southern China. They will promote travel routes in Sydney and New South Wales while also exploring new markets.”
“This is another great opportunity to showcase why New South Wales is Australia’s leading tourism destination. We will introduce some of the state’s renowned travel routes, activities, hotels and fantastic attractions, all of which are highly appealing to Chinese tourists.”
The New South Wales tourism operators traveling to Greater China are supported by the New South Wales Government’s International Business Development Program, which is delivered by Destination NSW. This China trip is jointly organized by Destination NSW and Tourism and Events Queensland.
