SEOUL/YANGJU, South Korea, Aug. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- An international congress promoting the slow food movement and a holistic healthy lifestyle will be held in Yangju in October, organizers said on Thursday, noting that the festival offers an opportunity to enjoy farm-to-table food and engaging learning experiences.
Themed “Good Food, Good Life,” the Yangju International Slow Life Congress will take place in the city of the same name, located about 30 kilometers east of Seoul, from Oct. 8 and run for 10 days.
A member of the organizing committee said the congress advocates three core values — health, sustainability, and empathy — and seeks to create and share happiness.
Organizers said delegates and tourists from around 40 countries and regions, as well as participants from across South Korea, will attend the congress, during which various activities will be held, including concerts, tastings, and other hands-on events.
A food exhibition will also be held during the congress, showcasing works by some of South Korea’s most renowned chefs, and visitors will also be able to sample a variety of traditional foods and beverages from diverse cultures.
This congress is the second of its kind to be held in Yangju. The 2013 Asio Gusto (Asia-Oceania Gourmet Event) was held in the city, after which Yangju changed the event's name and decided to hold it biennially.
