(Reported by Reporter Yang Wei) On November 29, the 2015 Winter Ice and Snow Tourism Festival at Suyukou National Forest Park was launched. As the largest professional alpine ski resort in Northwest China—Suyukou Ski Resort—opened its doors to visitors that day. It is also the earliest ski resort in the region to begin operations this year.
Suyukou Ski Resort has three ski runs for beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers, with an average length of 600 meters. “The snowfall in recent days has created favorable weather conditions for snowmaking at the resort. We have been making snow. Once the snow is ready, the high-altitude terrain of the Helan Mountains can maintain low temperatures all day, ensuring visitors can enjoy ice and snow activities,” the person in charge of Suyukou Ski Resort told reporters.
In addition to Suyukou Ski Resort, the number of ski resorts in our region will increase to 7 this year. Ski enthusiasts can choose Yuehai Ski Resort, which is closer to the city center. Other options include Mingcui Lake Ski Resort and Xixia Folk Custom Park Ski Resort, which opened last year, Shahu Ski Resort in Shizuishan, as well as Guyuan Liupan Mountain Ski Resort and Zhongwei Ski Resort, both of which will open this winter.
