The Slopestyle course features an unprecedented new layout, while the Big Air venue setup is truly impressive., UThe Halfpipe venue is the largest of its kind in China to date —“a superpipe”.

In February 2012, the international snowboarding community gathered in Oslo, Norway, for the inaugural World Championships of Snowboarding (WCS), hosted by TTR Pro Snowboarding and the World Snowboard Federation. Changing it Up: Jumps First, Rails Last
WCS 2016 changes it up from the typical course build, kicking off the 700m long Slopestyle run with 3 kickers of 19m, 22m and 25m in size, leading into a creative feature loaded jib section consisting of 2 rail islands and a huge L-shaped playground featuring a wall-ride and a number of rails and ledges.
The Slopestyle course takes full advantage of the Yabuli terrain, allowing the riders to unleash their creative potential. Head shaper Ryan Neptune brings a team of 9 shapers with him that will work alongside the Chinese specialists and Yabuli Ski Resort.
Change: Jump zone moved forward, rail zone moved back
2016have made changes to the typical track setup of previous years, featuring three jumps measuring700-meter slopestyle course, followed by an innovative street section packed with obstacles, including19meters,22meters, and25meters at the start of the2rail islands and a massiveL-shaped platform with walls, several rails, and jibs.
The slopestyle course takes full advantage of Yabuli’s terrain, allowing riders to unleash their creativity. Chief course builderRyan Neptunebrought his9-person team to collaborate with Chinese experts and staff from the Yabuli Ski Resort in building the venue.

We have specialists on board from the US, Canada, NZ, Australia, and together we have come up with a innovative course design for the slopestyle that we are stoked to reveal today”, says head shaper Ryan Neptune (USA).
Chief Venue Construction EngineerRyan Neptunesaid:“For the World Championships, our idea was to establish an international venue construction team of experts. Our specialists come from the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. After consultations and collaboration, we proposed an innovative venue design for the slopestyle event, which we’re excited to unveil today. ”
"The Slopestyle course at the Yabuli World Snowboard Championships is going showcase one of the most creative venues for world class riders to date. Mixing up the the traditional jumps which increase in scale as the first features on the course and ending in three rail islands with the last feature a multiple rail section that the riders will need to settle after they land their jumps will add a high level of expectation for the best riders, says competition director Lee Gregory Johnson.
Built atop a venue previously used for aerials, the WCS 2016 Big Air arena will give spectators a spectacular view of the action. The 27m Jump will set the stage that will showcase the riders’ progressive flair and technical skill.
The 22ft or 7m high Superpipe“ measures 185m in length. It is state-of-the-art and will be the biggest Halfpipe seen in China to date. Situated adjacent to the Big Air venue and the main event area, spectators will have easy access to watch their heroes flying through the pipe.
The Yabuli slopestyle course will present one of the most creative venues to date for world-class athletes. The competition directorLee Gregory Johnsonsaid that the first setup on the course is a larger traditional jump, with three rail islands mixed in toward the end, and the final setup is a multi-rail zone where riders must decide how to navigate after landing from the jump, raising our high expectations for the top riders.
The venue is set at a higher elevation for flips,2016and the freestyle skiing aerials venue for the World Snowboarding Championships will offer spectators an excellent vantage point to watch the riders’ maneuvers.27The meter-high jump will prepare riders to demonstrate progressive skill and technique.
22The7-meter-high“Superpipe”is185meters long. Its advancement and scale are unmatched in China to date. Adjacent to the aerials venue and the main competition area, spectators will have a clear view of their heroes flipping in the pipe.
Qualification is open to competitors from around the world, where the qualification criteria is based on the World Snowboarding Points List (WSPL) rankings and WSF national snowboard association selections. The cut-off date is only a few days away, on December 15th.
