It’s Christmas today, so let’s talk about something cheerful. In 1910, the first self-propelled RV appeared in the United States, and the RV has been around for over 100 years since then. Legend says Santa Claus drives his red-nosed Rudolph to deliver gifts to everyone, but with freezing cold weather and potential heavy smog when crossing from Finland into China, getting lost is highly likely. But let’s imagine what it would be like if Santa delivered gifts by RV? With ample space, cooking facilities, and the ability to simply park and rest during smoggy conditions, it would reduce travel fatigue and ensure timely delivery of Christmas presents. Let’s take a look at what’s been happening in the RV world this week, and while we’re at it, pick out a suitable RV for “Santa.”

80 Manufacturers, 204 Models: 2015 MIIT Recreational Vehicle Public Notice Report

2015 was a year of rapid development for China’s RV market. Throughout the year, the RV self-drive tourism industry was mentioned multiple times by the State Council and explicitly highlighted in the “Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Life Service Industries and Promoting Upgrades in Consumption Structure,” issued by the General Office of the State Council. These guidelines emphasized meeting the development needs of emerging tourism formats such as RVs, self-drive travel, cruise ships, and yachts, as well as rationally planning supporting facilities and base layouts—all of which would significantly promote the comprehensive development of China’s RV camping tourism services.

With government support, the RV market in China flourished in 2015. While vigorously developing and improving supporting facilities for RV camping, many domestic RV manufacturers also took the opportunity to launch new recreational vehicle products.

In 2015, among the cargo and special-purpose vehicle product announcements submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)’s “Vehicle Manufacturers and Products Announcement,” we saw more domestic RV manufacturers introducing a greater variety of new RV products. A total of 12 batches of RV announcements were released throughout the year, from Batch 269 to Batch 280. These involved 80 participating manufacturers and 85 participating brands (some manufacturers own multiple sub-brands, hence the discrepancy in manufacturer and brand counts), covering as many as 204 models. This marked the highest number of manufacturers, brands, and models announced by MIIT in its history.

Compared to the 2014 MIIT RV announcements, the total number of RVs listed in 2015 doubled, showing a significant increase. This clearly indicates that the domestic RV market is diversifying in terms of product variety. The growing number of participating manufacturers has also intensified competition in the RV market like never before. In 2014, there were 49 participating manufacturers, but within just one year in 2015, that number surged to 80—an increase of 31. The rise in RV manufacturers led to a sharp growth in the number of models announced, jumping from 101 in 2014 to 204 in 2015, representing a 100% growth rate. More models entering the market offer RV enthusiasts a wider range of choices.

More choices have also led to a bigger market. Among the 204 RV models announced in

In addition to the wide variety of vehicle types, the 2015 MIIT RV public notice also featured 22 trailer camper models and multiple vehicle models from the same manufacturer under different brand names. Although the 22 trailer camper models announced throughout the year were not outstanding in number, they represented a leap forward compared to 2014. This indicates that domestically produced towable RVs are no longer limited to campsite use but are gradually becoming more standardized and legitimate. Among the annual RV public notices, we also observed multiple brands originating from the same manufacturer—for example, Jiangxi Jiangling Motor Group Special Vehicle Co., Ltd. simultaneously displayed three RV brands under its name: Jiangling, Jiangling Transit, and Hongdu. This shows that domestic RV manufacturers are actively seeking to diversify their product offerings and build their own unique brand identities.

Looking back at China’s RV market in 2015, the phrase “a hundred flowers blooming and a hundred schools of thought contending” is no exaggeration. Encouraged by relevant national policies, more and more RV companies have emerged, each launching their proudly developed RV products, all vying for a place in the promising and expansive landscape of the domestic RV market. But in the end, only the products themselves can prove which ones will prevail—only those that meet the practical needs of consumers will be the key to leading China’s RV market in the future. In 2016, we will continue to explore the development of China’s RV market with you, month by month, through the public announcements of freight and special-purpose vehicles submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products Announcement."

A Magical Christmas Eve: RV Party to Rock Your Night – RV Recommendations Across All Price Ranges

With just a few hours left until the annual Christmas Eve, as we all know, Christmas is an important holiday in Western Christian countries, holding a status equivalent to China’s Spring Festival, and Christmas Eve is akin to China’s New Year’s Eve. Although it is not a traditional Chinese festival, it is being valued by more and more people. On this day, shopping malls are decorated in vibrant colors, beautiful Christmas trees are everywhere, and even though it’s not a public holiday, the festive atmosphere is quite strong. But every year, when you and your loved one are getting ready to go out and celebrate Christmas, cinemas, malls, restaurants, and entertainment venues are packed like during the Spring Festival travel rush; booking hotlines are virtually useless; major commercial areas are gridlocked like parking lots; exhaust emissions soar, and smog is severe—the air is hazy everywhere.

Do you really want to spend this year the same way as before? How about trying something fresh to celebrate Christmas? What do you think of a Christmas party in an RV? No queues, no traffic jams—just romance and wonder. And with the New Year just around the corner, after a busy year, it’s time to treat yourself to a long holiday during the “Double Delights.” Drive an RV, enjoy a feast of delicious food and breathtaking scenery. Here we recommend five price ranges of RVs—there's definitely one that suits you.

RVs priced from 150,000 to 220,000 RMB

Recommended model: Zhongjin Bolang Jiabao T80 RV

Today, we’re introducing a self-propelled RV with a starting price of just 159,800 RMB—the FAW Jiabao T80 RV from Zhongjin Bolang.

In terms of power, the Jiabao T80 retains the same powertrain as the regular version: a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, delivering a maximum power of 75kW and a maximum torque of 135N·m. For a vehicle with a curb weight close to 2 tons, this power reserve is surprisingly decent and doesn’t feel sluggish at all.

RVs priced from 220,000 to 350,000 RMB

Recommended model: Dexing Long-wheelbase Automatic RV

The Dexing Long-wheelbase Automatic RV is built on the Maxus V80 chassis and equipped with a 6AMT automatic transmission. It offers a longer wheelbase and more spacious interior.

Summary: The Dexing long-wheelbase automatic RV uses the longer-wheelbase Maxus V80 as its chassis, offering outstanding space performance that is on par with—or even superior to—similar RVs in some aspects. Though the 6AMT automatic transmission isn’t new to the RV world, its inclusion provides peace of mind for buyers who may be intimidated by manual transmissions. The cleverly designed four-bed layout performs excellently among similar RVs, especially with the upper space of the pop-up bed accommodating taller users comfortably.

Although the Dexing long-wheelbase automatic RV lacks the nimbleness of its short-wheelbase sibling, the extended wheelbase doesn’t make it feel overly bulky. On the contrary, with the help of the automatic transmission, driving this long-wheelbase RV feels steadier and more comfortable.

RVs priced from 350,000 to 500,000 RMB

Recommended model: Kailebinwei ZK5045XLJ1 RV

In the RV community, models with an extension module often attract more attention due to their larger space. The Kailebinwei ZK5045XLJ1 RV follows this concept to meet market demand. This large-space family RV offers a unique experience.

In terms of appearance, the Kailebinwei ZK5045XLJ1 RV remains a typical Class C self-propelled RV. The paint design running from the front to the back conveys the signature style of Kailebinwei RVs, and the overall body has a high level of cohesion, reflecting a thoughtfully designed product.

Equipped with the new Iveco Daily as its chassis, the RV shares similar dimensions and front-end design with other Iveco RVs. Its 5,990mm length still allows it to be driven with a C1 license, and the new Iveco Daily’s refreshed front end is quite appealing.

For power, this Kailebinwei ZK5045XLJ1 RV is equipped with a 3.0T turbo diesel engine, producing a maximum power of 107KW, paired with a brand-new 6-speed manual transmission. Compared to the old 5-speed manual gearbox of previous Iveco models, the new transmission offers better fuel efficiency.

Regarding interior design, thanks to the addition of extension modules on the left side and rear, the interior space is significantly expanded. When the extension modules are fully opened, the roomy interior provides a more comfortable living environment, and the light-toned home-style furnishings create a cozy atmosphere.

Summary: The Kailebinwei ZK5045XLJ1 RV maintains Yutong RV’s consistent design style. The dual extension modules offer superior internal space and more comprehensive functionality. If you plan to travel with your whole family in an RV, the dual-extension Kailebinwei ZK5045XLJ1 is a great option.

What would it be like if the common layout found in domestic RVs appeared in imported ones? Let’s take a look at my experience with the Bürstner nexxo time t569 RV.

In terms of power, the Bürstner 569 is equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine that delivers strong low-end torque. It’s paired with a 6-speed AMT automatic transmission, which, compared to a traditional manual gearbox, makes the vehicle more accessible to a wider range of drivers.

The interior of the Bürstner 569 not only features a design tailored to the usage habits of Chinese customers, but also maintains the consistently high standards of imported models in terms of furniture craftsmanship and materials. The precision typical of German engineering is fully reflected in this vehicle, making its quality noticeably higher than some domestically produced RVs that seem “rushed.”

Summary: For the Bürstner nexxo time t569 RV, the biggest highlight is undoubtedly that familiar interior layout commonly seen in domestic RVs. Just this interior alone is enough to attract the attention of many RV enthusiasts.

This model features the signature Bürstner family appearance, is under 6 meters, and comes with an automatic transmission — highlights in themselves. But its completely different interior from its siblings is also a major attraction.

Summary:The Bürstner ixeo time it586 doesn’t offer too many surprises in terms of exterior — it still sports the familiar Bürstner look, which is just okay. Its biggest highlight is undoubtedly the interior design. Delivering such outstanding performance in a motorhome under 6 meters is no small feat.
