    The 8-Hour Challenge is a charitable trail running event organized by the China Youth Development Foundation. Our slogan is “Your small step today is a giant leap for children in the future.” We advocate using the power of walking to help rural children read and grow happily.
    Recently, Gu Zhengzheng, head of the public promotion department at the China Youth Development Foundation and project leader of the 8-Hour Challenge, had an in-depth discussion with Guan Yue, the event’s “Ambassador of Love,” sharing their thoughts on both the 8-Hour Challenge and philanthropy.
    Renowned actors Guan Yue and Tong Dawei have been committed to philanthropic causes in recent years. Last year, at the inaugural 8-Hour Challenge, we were honored to have Mr. Tong Dawei serve as the ambassador of love. This year, we are equally privileged to welcome Ms. Guan Yue to the 8-Hour Challenge family to promote the event through her charitable influence. Guan Yue believes that the 8-Hour Challenge trail run is a highly meaningful initiative. It not only encourages people to support rural children but also combines this mission with outdoor sports, which helps build physical strength and mental resilience. The spirit of self-transcendence and perseverance developed during hiking also applies to the world of philanthropy. In the process of doing good, the greatest reward is having one's persistence recognized. Guan Yue mentioned that she was deeply moved by the slogan of the 8-Hour Challenge: “Your small step today is a giant leap for children in the future.” Knowledge shapes destiny, and reading is extremely important for a child’s entire life—this is the deeper meaning behind the project.
    Ms. Gu Zhengzheng from the China Youth Development Foundation stated that this year’s “Happy Reading” initiative will focus on Luanping County in Jinshanling, Hebei Province—the location of the 8-Hour Challenge. As a nationally designated poverty-stricken county, this collaboration through the trail run event hopes to help local children receive a better education.
