Last updated 2026-11-08 — Cycling After three years of continuous effort and consistent implementation, New Zealand’s nationwide network of cycling trails has finally transformed from paper plans into real-world infrastructure. New routes, fresh air, and ever-changing scenery... By the end of 2013, 22 of New Zealand’s so-called "Super Cycleways" will all be completed ...
The "Challenge 8 Hours" charitable hiking and trail running event is organized by the China Youth Development Foundation. It promotes the power of walking to help rural children read and grow happily. The goal is to mobilize widespread social support to raise funds, inspire others through personal action, gather more love, and fulfill the reading dreams of rural children.
Ms. Wei, who just signed up for the "Challenge 8 Hours" trail run, is a full-time mom who usually stays at home as a "homemaker." Years of managing household chores gradually made her lose the motivation and enthusiasm to exercise outdoors. However, as she gets older, she increasingly realizes how important physical health is to her. Upon learning about the "Challenge 8 Hours" event, her passion for sports was reignited. She thought this was the perfect opportunity to get active and regain her vitality. Her husband fully supports her and is willing to join the race with her. The couple both feel that the format of the "Challenge 8 Hours" trail run is both innovative and meaningful—being able to enjoy sports while helping children in mountainous areas read more extracurricular books is something that brings them joy.
This is Ms. Wei’s first time doing "fundraising," and she admits feeling quite nervous about this method of raising money, unsure how much support she’ll receive. But she remains determined to complete the task by persuading relatives and friends to donate. She says the ultimate goal is to let more people learn about the event and the "Happy Reading" project, thereby encouraging them to participate in public welfare efforts.
Ms. Wei said that although her son is not currently studying in Beijing, she will encourage him to set aside time for the family of three to take on the challenge together at Jinshanling.
What are you waiting for? Hurry up and call your family to rediscover the passion for sports, help rural children "read happily," and let’s use positive energy to change each other’s lives together.
