Stars call for love and public welfare: First public boycott of Yulin Dog Meat Festival

A star-studded charity performance and press conference themed "Please Let Me Help You," jointly initiated by renowned Chinese musicians, songwriters, music producers, and singers Liu Xuanjie and Wang Bao, will be held at 7:30 PM on June 26 at the 1919 Theater in Chaoyang District, Beijing. The event aims to boycott the Yulin Dog Meat Festival and calls for care for stray animals and wildlife. The event has invited numerous major music stars to attend, including well-known musicians Hao Yun, Xie Tianshuo, Chuan Zi, Liu Junlin, Xin Zi, Liu Yuliang, Xue Shilang, Miss Mix Band, Chiren Band, Paradise Band, Laopijiang Band, Tangyi Wawa Band, Tui Band, Windsor Forest Band, Yu Mu and Band, Ye Fei, Zero Band, Ma Tiao, Yang Jiasong, and Distorted Machine Band, among many others. Numerous artists who were unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts have also recorded VCRs related to the event to show their support. Prior to this, many other major stars such as Vincent Wong, Luo Zhongxu, Tao Xinran, Wu Yue, and Chen Jia have also shot public service photos for the event. It is believed that the active participation of the guests will make this event truly meaningful.

Upholding the spirit of public welfare, the event will not have ticket sales and entry will be based solely on donations, while all celebrity guests will attend voluntarily. As is well known, the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in Guangxi has repeatedly stirred public emotions. The inhumane and bloody slaughter of dogs has drawn condemnation from many animal lovers, making actions to care for wildlife and stray animals imperative. This collective voice of stars speaking up for animals and their first public boycott of the Yulin Dog Meat Festival is sure to spark a new wave of public discourse.

In an interview with the event’s initiators and organizers, musicians Liu Xuanjie and Wang Bao, they stated that caring for and rescuing stray animals and protecting wildlife is a stance and attitude everyone should have. Public welfare is beyond question, and we are not afraid of public pressure. It should be noted that boycotting the Yulin Dog Meat Festival is not about confronting traditional customs, but rather about hoping to awaken the most basic humanity in people. They are calling for the establishment of animal protection laws. They promised that based on the situation of on-site donations, public attitudes, and the impact of the event, they will continue to carry out other activities for animal protection.

It is reported that this charity performance is organized by the Oriental Huiguang Cultural Industry Group. Many more stars are expected to join in the near future.
