On the afternoon of June 15 at 14:00, at the Laoshan Velodrome, 30 road and mountain biking enthusiasts gathered for the launch of the “New Cool Shots: Fun Cycling” Sony Action Cam AS100V cycling experience sharing event, jointly organized by the Reader’s Club of Outdoor Magazine and Sony.

Nowadays, sports videography is becoming increasingly popular. Whether you're skiing, rock climbing, speed riding, diving, skydiving, or cycling, a high-quality wearable camera can capture every moment of your outdoor adventures from unique perspectives. Cycling and cool shots were the two main themes of this cycling experience sharing session. To provide participants with an enhanced cycling and filming experience, the organizers specially invited cycling stars such as Peng Lei, leader of the Off-Road Sunshine cycling team, and Liu Dean, a seasoned long-distance cyclist. They had previously used the Sony Action Cam AS100V to shoot short mountain and road cycling videos, which they shared on-site along with their riding experiences and filming tips.

One of the cycling star guests, Liu Dean, has 20 years of long-distance cycling experience and shared an exciting micro film about road cycling. In the video, you’ll find that Sony Action Cam AS100V cameras can be mounted on various parts of the bike. While cycling through picturesque mountains, there’s no need for manual intervention—you just ride, and the Action Cam automatically records the beautiful scenery around you. With a bit of creativity and unique camera angles, the whole video becomes quite captivating. “So cool!” was the most frequent comment heard from the audience.

Another cycling star guest, Peng Lei, delivered a mountain biking short film that brought the entire audience a rush of speed and adrenaline. The video was shot from multiple angles and easily edited into a multi-perspective video using Sony’s PMH software, complete with GPS tracking information—making it highly tech-savvy.

The following interactive game session brought a small climax to the event. Under the guidance of Sony staff, several cycling enthusiasts competed in an AS100V and accessory installation challenge. The winner was the participant who completed the task in the shortest time, with secure and correct installation, and who could clearly explain their installation choices. This fun activity helped everyone become familiar with setting up and using the AS100V, preparing them technically for the upcoming cycling and filming experience.

Next came the highlight of the event—the cycling experience session. Participants were divided into road and mountain biking groups and headed to the respective tracks in Laoshan Park. Led by cycling stars, they experienced the thrill of wild rides and captured interesting outdoor footage from unique perspectives using the Sony wearable cameras.

Mountain biking is an exhilarating sport where riders encounter various challenging terrains, harsh weather, and unexpected situations. Techniques such as posture, braking, and gear shifting also involve plenty of know-how. Meng Qingyu, a mountain biker who has achieved multiple wins in domestic mountain bike leagues, demonstrated and explained key techniques such as how to pedal on inclines and declines, brake force distribution, and maintaining proper riding posture. Despite the short time, the session was highly enlightening for everyone.

Meanwhile, the event staff had already mounted the AS100V cameras on each participant’s bike. The cyclists adjusted their wrist-mounted real-time monitors and began capturing the most exciting outdoor moments from their own unique perspectives.

As mountain bikers soared over hills, road cyclists were busy breaking their own speed records lap after lap. After the experience, one excited rider said, “I strapped the Sony Action Cam AS100V to my bike axle and captured the feeling of the wheels spinning rapidly on the ground—that’s the shot I’ve always wanted!”

A seemingly delicate girl, also a beginner in mountain biking, commented, “Although I’m not very skilled at biking yet, I think using the Action Cam to film rides is really fun. If the more experienced riders can film more videos for me to watch, I’m sure my skills will improve a lot.”

The final segment was the prize draw. More than ten lucky participants received attractive prizes, with the biggest winner being road cycling enthusiast Sun Fei, who won a brand-new Sony Action Cam AS100V wearable camera. He said, “I was planning to buy a sports camera to record fun cycling moments and share my joy with family and friends. I never expected to be so lucky today!”
