The moon is too far, Antarctica too cold, the Sahara too hot, and Somalia too chaotic—let’s skip those this summer. Instead of those destinations, why not bring your kids to Yichang for a family road trip adventure? Cool off at the Chao Tian Hou River Rafting, get your adrenaline pumping at the off-road racetrack, or relax at a campsite. This summer, Yichang offers a unique parent-child experience; this holiday, let your child have fun and build courage in Yichang.

On August 1st, the Mountain & Water "Drive" Carnival—the second season of the 2015 "Fall in Love with Yichang" National Brand Car Road Trip, hosted by the Yichang Tourism Bureau—kicked off at the Three Gorges Dam tourist area. The bureau also recommended poetic Three Gorges routes and Tujia cultural drives among others.
As early as April this year, over 500 car owners had participated in the first road trip event. This new season builds on the market enthusiasm from the first one, launching a special “Cool Action” tailored for the summer vacation market.

During the event, children not only visited the world-famous Three Gorges Dam to broaden their horizons, but also experienced the thrill of rafting to build courage. The whole family also enjoyed the warmth and romance of barbecue camping. Under the starlit tents, there was poetic beauty and coolness from the landscape, as well as the tranquility of nature. Additionally, setting up tents and cooking barbecue helped enhance children’s hands-on skills, allowing them to learn and create lasting memories while having fun.

Undoubtedly, traveling is one of the best ways to strengthen the bond between parents and children. Accompanying your child is more than just watching—it’s participation, companionship, and a demonstration of love.

As self-drive tourism grows into a key segment of Yichang’s travel market, the city has successfully launched over 100 hiking routes, more than 10 large exploration caves, over 10 wild canyon crossings, and 20+ stream-descending routes. These include specialized adventures such as primitive canyon exploration, rafting, and outdoor training—found in spots like Nanjin Pass Grand Canyon, Dalaoling National Forest Park, and Gaojiayan Daxi Grand Canyon. This summer, what are you waiting for? Bring your child and your car, and hit the road with Yichang.
