      [May 2019] Originating in the United States in 1982, the Hood to Coast race has evolved over 37 years into a globally renowned running and hiking relay event brand. For many runners, it’s “a race you must complete in your lifetime.” In 2017, Hood to Coast officially entered China, kicking off an exploratory journey with runners to conquer mountains and grasslands and challenge their physical limits on Chinese soil.

Conquering Mountains, Breaking Limits

Upholding the spirit of sportsmanship and focusing on outdoor sports, Adidas TERREX is dedicated to helping outdoor innovators push their boundaries and forge their own paths in outdoor pursuits. This July, Adidas TERREX will continue its partnership with the Hood to Coast race, reuniting with runners to embark on the limitless exploration of Hood to Coast China. Adidas TERREX will host trail recruitment races and training camps in Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai, offering direct entry to the 2019 Hood to Coast China race to 13 winning teams. Among them, 8 teams will qualify for free entry, while 5 teams will receive self-funded entry opportunities.

The Adidas TERREX trail recruitment race in Beijing will take place on May 19, 2019, with registration open from April 18 to May 10, 2019. The race will be team-based, with 66 teams competing at Beijing Phoenix Ridge Natural Scenic Park. Team performance will be ranked based on the total time taken by all five members to complete the course, with rankings announced from shortest to longest time. The course spans 21.6 kilometers, featuring various terrains including paved roads, wooden boardwalks, gravel paths, and stairs, with a cumulative elevation gain of 1,826 meters. The Chengdu leg of the trail recruitment race is scheduled for May 12, 2019, and the Shanghai leg will begin on June 2, 2019.

The 2019 Hood to Coast China race will be held on July 6–7, 2019, in Zhangjiakou. Winning teams from each Adidas TERREX trail recruitment race will join other top Chinese running groups to compete on the ultimate course, vying for two spots to the 2019 Hood to Coast US. The ultra-long and diverse course, the unique experience of running through day and night, and the rigorous challenges for both individuals and teams will create memories to last a lifetime. United in speed and purpose, every Hood to Coast runner will work together to achieve what seems impossible, adding another proud checkmark to their life’s bucket list.

After three years of development, Hood to Coast China has become a popular and distinctive race in the Chinese running community, attracting running enthusiasts from across China and around the world with its beautiful course scenery, unique 5-person-1-car team relay format, and the thrilling experience of traversing day and night. As a partner of the event, Adidas TERREX will launch a new season of men’s and women’s outdoor footwear and apparel from its trail running series in May, equipping trail runners for their “journey.”
