Finnish sports education in China

At the launch event, Jussi Rapo stated that China-Finland sports ties date back a long time—from Finland inviting China to participate in the 1952 Helsinki Summer Olympics to the recently concluded “China-Finland Winter Sports Year,” sports have always been a witness and promoter of friendship between the two countries. Though small in size, Finland has consistently led in education. The launch of this China-Finland skiing cooperation project aims to empower the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and respond to the national policy of “getting 300 million people on the snow.” As a training base, Dolomiti Park will introduce the Finnish training system and collaborate with the Vuokatti Olympic Training Center on professional-level skiing competitions and training, providing athletes and coaches with top-tier facilities and expert coaching. In partnership with the Kesko Sports Institute, it will also engage in extensive public-level skiing events and training. A “Moving School” educational program will be implemented for Chinese children, youth, and beginners at Dolomiti Park, with 150 expert-level instructors being sent from Finland to train a dedicated team of Dolomiti ski coaches.

All participants agreed that the meeting marked a strong start for deep integration of Finnish winter sports with China’s sports education, with plans to continue further, deeper, and more detailed collaborations.

Dolomiti Outdoor Academy supports diverse educational development

The collaboration between Dolomiti Park and the two Finnish professional sports institutions would not have been possible without the foundation provided by the Dolomiti Outdoor Sports Academy. Comprising four major segments—winter sports, outdoor activities, adventure training, and youth camps—the academy focuses on providing sports skill training for people of all ages. By partnering with professional sports organizations and introducing advanced teaching systems, it not only caters to the public’s interest in outdoor activities but also helps elevate the technical skills of professional athletes to international standards.

Let body and mind grow freely through seasonal mountain sports

Sports are the grand backdrop of Chongli. This globally renowned sports city attracts enthusiasts from around the world for a variety of athletic pursuits, while also shaping Dolomiti Park into a unique mountain sports resort. Health is just the basic goal of sports; the pursuit and embodiment of the Olympic spirit—challenging limits and surpassing oneself—is the very foundation of Dolomiti Park’s approach to building and operating a mountain sports resort. With a more natural environment, more professional and diverse year-round sports offerings, and innovations through format transformation and cross-industry collaboration, the resort presents limitless possibilities.

2020 marks the 70th anniversary of China-Finland diplomatic relations. As cooperation in winter sports between the two nations deepens and the Winter Olympics progresses, China’s skiing industry will become increasingly interconnected with the world. Leveraging its vast natural resources, Dolomiti Park has built a robust mountain resort. On the foundation of introducing international expertise, it continues to explore richer and more scientific sports tourism models, providing a positive development template for China’s ice and snow industry. The connotation of Chongli’s sports industry will continue to expand.
