The Xin Tian Trails No. 2 and No. 3 in Tanzi District, Taichung City, recently underwent renovation works including slope stabilization, road drainage improvements, and wooden boardwalk repairs, which were completed as scheduled at the end of November. To promote trail maintenance awareness and encourage the public to join in protecting mountain environments, the Taichung City Government’s Tourism and Travel Bureau organized the “Xin Tian Hiking Trail Renovation Completion and Trail Cleanup Event” starting at 8:00 AM on the 1st at the Xin Tian Hiking Trail. Deputy Mayor Yang Chiong-ying led the city government team in participation, aiming to advocate for and protect Taiwan’s mountain ecology through hands-on action. By joining hands across generations, they encouraged environmentally friendly practices and collective participation in the cleanup.
Yang Chiong-ying stated that the recent completion of the renovation work on Xin Tian Trails No. 2 and No. 3 not only provides citizens with a comfortable and safe place for hiking, but also hopes that through this cleanup event, everyone can take practical action to protect the environment and contribute to preserving the beautiful Xin Tian Hiking Trail.
Participating in the cleanup not only makes the trails cleaner and more scenic, but also improves cardiovascular health. Enjoying the beautiful mountain views along the Xin Tian trails, strolling through the quiet woods, and experiencing forest bathing can further inspire a love for nature and encourage a balance between tourism development and environmental protection for sustainable growth—an activity of great significance.
Lin Hsiao-chi from the Tourism and Travel Bureau said the event is mainly held along Trails No. 1 and No. 2 of the Xin Tian Hiking Trail located near the Xiaobaiyue (Minor Hundred Peaks) peak of Juxing Mountain (approximately 2 kilometers in length). Starting from the Xin Tian Trail parking lot, the path is lined with various broadleaf trees such as acacia, Melia azedarach, and bamboo forests, allowing hikers to enjoy a phytoncide-filled "SPA." Through trail cleanup activities to protect the mountain environment, participants can experience the joy of nature while also supporting plastic reduction and environmental conservation.
