The No. 2 and No. 3 Xintian Mountain Trails in Tanzi District, Taichung City, recently underwent slope collapse remediation, road drainage improvements, and wooden boardwalk renovations. These projects were completed on schedule by the end of November. On the 1st, the Taichung City Tourism Bureau held a “Xintian Mountain Trail Renovation Completion & Mountain Cleanup Event” at the Xintian Mountain Trails, with Vice Mayor Yang Chiung-ying leading the city government team in participation; the event aimed to promote and protect Taiwan’s mountain forest ecology through concrete action.
Yang Chiung-ying stated that this year’s renovation projects for the No. 2 and No. 3 Xintian Mountain Trails have just been completed, providing citizens with a comfortable and safe hiking destination. She hopes that through this mountain cleanup event, everyone can take practical action to care for the environment and work together to contribute to the beautiful Xintian Mountain Trails.
Lin Hsiao-chi, Director of the Tourism and Travel Bureau, said the event took place primarily along the No. 1 and No. 2 trails of the Xiaobaiyue (Little Hundred Peaks) Juxing Mountain Xintian Mountain Trails, spanning about 2 kilometers. Starting from the Xintian Mountain Trail parking lot, the route features various broadleaf tree species such as acacia, blackboard trees, and bamboo forests. Through mountain cleanup activities, participants help protect the forests while enjoying the fun of nature hiking, also promoting environmental protection and reducing plastic use.
Taipei City Councilor Xu ? Feng believes that participating in mountain cleanups not only makes the trails cleaner and more beautiful, inspiring a love for the environment, but also helps achieve a balance between tourism development and environmental protection for sustainable growth—making it a very meaningful activity.
