A group of six hikers — including a young man surnamed Hsu — from Kaohsiung and Taipei entered the mountains via Shanlinxi in Zhushan Township, Nantou County, on the 6th. They were planning to visit the “Shuiyang Forest” scenic area deep in the mountains near the border of Nantou and Chiayi counties but got lost between Luku Mountain and Shitou Mountain due to heavy fog.
Nantou County Fire Bureau received a distress call yesterday afternoon. A rescue team composed of members from the Lugu Fire Station and police officers was formed to search the mountains. The hikers were successfully located this morning and evacuated safely.
