Two tourists went to the popular Nantou County attraction “Forget-Worry Forest” this afternoon. While climbing Jinguanshu Mountain, which stands at an altitude of about 2,000 meters, they got lost, prompting police and firefighters to launch a mountain rescue.
Nantou County Government Fire Bureau received a report relayed from the police and notified the Lugu Fire Station to form a search and rescue team to head up the mountain. Rescue personnel estimated that the two are likely in the Jinguanshu Mountain area, near the border of Lugu Township, Zhushan Township, and Xinyi Township.
The Lugu Fire Station had only sent personnel up the mountain on the 6th to rescue six young people who were lost in “Shuiyang Forest.” The team returned to the station this afternoon, but just three hours later, another two tourists got lost after climbing Jinguanshu Mountain following their visit to “Forget-Worry Forest.”
The Lugu Station stated that although different teams were deployed to Forget-Worry Forest and Jinguanshu Mountain for the rescue missions, the limited manpower of the station still placed a significant additional burden on other team members. The Lugu Station urged hikers to carefully assess their experience, physical ability, and equipment before heading out, plan their routes in advance, and never venture into unfamiliar forest trails. 1031207
