The Nantou County Police Department’s duty command center received a report at 1:20 p.m. today stating that a group of six hikers had gotten lost and were stranded in the mountainous area of Lugu Township. Police and firefighters are currently conducting a search.
The Nantou County Fire Bureau, notified by police, dispatched an eight-person team from the Lugu Fire Station to carry out the rescue mission. Authorities believe the six hikers were heading toward the Shuiyang Forest area but got lost and became trapped between Luku Mountain and Shitou Mountain. The fire department stated that due to poor communication signals in the mountainous region, they have been unable to establish contact with the group and have been missing for nearly two hours. 1031206
