The "Peak Cloud Ten-Year" mountaineering team consists of 15 members, including 4 female members, among whom 7 are veterans who have previously climbed snow mountains, and 8 are new members. The team was officially established on April 21. Since its formation, team members have held themselves to stricter standards and undergone intensive training. Training activities included loaded and unloaded stair climbing, loaded and unloaded mountain hikes, 10-kilometer long-distance running, sprinting, rock climbing, rope ladder exercises, ascending and descending technique training, as well as limb strength training. Medical, equipment, food, and photography training were also integrated throughout the training period. After the intensive training, everyone’s physical fitness, technical skills, and team cohesion improved significantly, and all members are confident about the upcoming climb.
"2013 Xuebao Ding, here we come!" — On July 26, 2013, after bidding farewell to the climbing wall, they boarded the train bound for Chengdu.
At 8:15 PM on July 27, 2013, the train arrived in Chengdu on schedule, and the main group of the "Peak Cloud Ten-Year" mountaineering team finally reunited with the advance team. Also there to greet them were the Yunyouhui support team — the beautiful and lovely senior Liu Xiting, and the abs-flaunting senior Wan Fangqing.
How did they get through such a long journey that day?
Thanks to the air mattresses, everyone enjoyed the comfort of sleeping on soft berths; thanks to the cookware sets, they could boil instant noodles and stir-fry diced sausages; thanks to the several decks of playing cards, card players kept busy, with some even ending up with faces covered in sticky notes... Of course, the best part was having the veteran members share stories from their climbs on Que’er and Banji Feng, exchange all sorts of gossip, and, most importantly, emphasize various pre-climb and on-mountain precautions.
Now, the team is staying in Jinniu District, Chengdu. The advance team briefed them on the current local transportation, weather, rainfall conditions in Sichuan, and the progress of preparatory work. Tomorrow, they will handle food and gear shopping, rent equipment from the mountaineering association, contact coaches, and finalize transportation arrangements.
For college students, mountaineering is not just about pursuing altitude and pushing personal limits, but also reflects their quest for freedom and a cleansing of the soul. It's also an emotional experience, a force born when feelings evolve into sentiment. "Please believe us, we can do it!" said new member Yin Dongmin in her Renren status update.
