Weekends are often when people go out for hiking and outdoor activities. On the 13th, the Gongtian Police Station of Zhongpu Sub-bureau in Chiayi County received a report from a man surnamed Xiao, who said that he and his wife were hiking on the Goat Trail in Fanlu Township when his wife accidentally fell and injured her left hand, prompting them to request police assistance.
A couple surnamed Xiao regularly hike in the suburbs on weekends. On the morning of the 13th, the two went hiking together on the Goat Trail in Fanlu Township. Along the way, due to the slippery mountain path, Mrs. Xiao accidentally fell and injured her left hand, requiring urgent descent and medical treatment. Mr. Xiao then immediately called 110 to seek police help.
After receiving the report, the Chiayi County Police Department’s operations center, based on the caller’s phone location, notified the Gongtian Police Station of Zhongpu Sub-bureau. Station Chief Zhou Xinhong and Officer Li Zhengjie quickly rushed to the scene for the rescue. Upon arriving at the Goat Ancient Trail, and based on GPS data showing no accessible roads in the area, officers searched along mountain trails for a long time but did not locate the reporting individuals.
Chief Zhou Xinhong of Gongtian Police Station called back the location provided by the reporting party, but as it was deep in the mountains, the man surnamed Xiao was unable to give an accurate position. An ambulance also arrived at the scene shortly after, and officers boarded the ambulance to search along a farm road, which was littered with falling rocks and fallen trees, making it very dangerous. Chief Zhou then decided to switch to a four-wheel-drive patrol vehicle for the search and eventually found the reporting man surnamed Xiao and the injured 56-year-old woman surnamed Yao. Medical personnel immediately provided on-site bandaging and treatment. After the rescue was completed and thanks were given to the responding police and firefighters, the couple surnamed Xiao drove down the mountain and returned home on their own.
