Hikers in the Hongludi mountain area of Zhonghe District in New Taipei City discovered what appeared to be a human figure moving around in the woods about 30 meters off the trail at around 1 p.m. today (the 13th). Upon closer inspection, they were shocked to find a skeleton hanging from a tree and immediately reported it to the police.
Officers from the Nanshi Police Station of the Zhonghe Precinct cordoned off the area upon arrival, and forensic investigators have also been on-site collecting evidence. So far, no identification documents or suicide note have been found. Police stated that as the area is rarely visited, the hanging had gone unnoticed for some time. They are now checking missing persons reports to identify the deceased.
