Dongpingfang Pagoda is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Liao Dynasty

Address: Dongpingfang Village, Daping Town, Chaoyang, Liaoning Province

A Liao Dynasty tiered brick pagoda, standing 20 meters tall with a hexagonal nine-story structure. Research indicates that among the existing Liao pagodas in China, only one-fifth are hexagonal. Moreover, the brick carvings on this pagoda are exceptionally exquisite. Take, for example, its 2.1-meter-high Sumeru pedestal — the lower waist of which features carved lotus petal and butterfly patterns. The lower waist also has three niches on each side, housing carvings of Buddhas, arhats, and musical figures, while each corner of the waist is adorned with carved celestial guardians. These brick carvings are gracefully shaped, vividly realistic, and exude an aura of dignity and refinement. Both their design and the relief sculptures on the pagoda body showcase high artistic value.

In May 2013, Dongpingfang Pagoda was designated as part of the seventh group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Protected Area: Within a radius of 50 meters centered on the pagoda.

Construction Control Zone: A Class I construction control zone extends 100 meters beyond the protected area.
